*Saul Perlmutter discusses how cosmologists evaluate challenges to the standard model, why some alternatives fail observational tests, and what kind of evidence would be needed to seriously revise our picture of the universe.* Should scientists continue exploring radical alternatives even when the standard model works remarkably well?
Great interview! He nails the problem of not knowing the ultimate question.
Awesome

@5:48.. The limit..lol you already use uncertainty to be right..keep going
Escape velocity is a big problem.
A fundamental insight of Relativity is that mass that exists at relativistic velocities is irrelevant from our perspective. Relativistic velocities are occurring in the overwhelming majority of galaxy centers. This means that they exist in a "non local" state relative to their outer regions. The mass in our galactic center is not just there, it's everywhere. Einstein repeatedly said that Relativistic dilation (gamma) prevents astronomical concentrations of mass/singularities. He put this in writing in 1939. Time dilation is just one aspect of the phenomenon, mass dilates too. Nobody believed in singularities until television and movies popularized them. Schwarzchild was publicly corrected many times. There is mass that is relevant from our perspective and there is mass that isn't. Galaxy rotation curves show the gravitational effects of both. It can be inferred mathematically that Relativistic dilation doesn't occur in galaxies with low mass centers. They don't have enough mass to achieve relativistic velocities. Therefore all their mass is relevant from our perspective. It has recently been confirmed in 25 dwarf and ultra diffuse galaxies including NGC 1052-DF2 and DF4 to have no dark matter. In other words they have normal rotation rates. Dark matter is regular matter that is relativistically dilated. Dilated mass cannot be observed as a particle.
@13:40 initial condition ie superposition. You guys decide where you are by using uncertainty. I do not ..perfect.. Coherence Dramatically changing"physics" can be defined as get over yourself
How did it start. Yes. That is a tough one. 👍
For Saul, he needs to look at alternatives to dark matter theory and explanations to dark energy. That's his field.
