As a millennial who engaged in P2P file sharing and was called a thief for it… I look on these AI companies…
Ed is my favorite “cranky man on the internet” right now
I see a pattern of companies offering IPO as a desperation move
Ai companies aren't "losing" money... they are extracting it.
My favorite trivia about openai is that at one point their head legal counsel was quoted as saying there is no extant legal structure that suits our needs regarding their status as a nonprofit or for-profit business I like to think about being pulled over for speeding then telling the cop that there was no extant traffic laws which suited my needs
This is a kleptocracy. Our welfare only goes to con men and grifters.
In lieu of your pension payment, we will be sending you a pallet of NVDA GPUs.
The worst thing about the eventual bubble pop will be less Ed Zitron dunking on AI bros in my feed.
a friend of mine said ''they're non-profit whether they like it or not''
This entire AI thing doesn't seem like just a bubble... it feels like a Ponzi, crossed with a bubble, crossed with extortion
