Europe miscalculated badly by driving Russia into Asia. And Russia is being smart by not relying 100% solely on China, but diversifying connections over whole Global South.

Quite right. Economic sanctions on a country might appear to punish them in the short term but in the long term, if they endure, they teach a country how to adapt and live without those who impose them.
