Anyone remember the Baltimore PD gun taskforce? Pepperidge Farms remembers. Its almost like special units that operate like gangs are a bad idea.

You have to imagine how many times they must have illegally abused people before they ended up killing one and getting caught.

I was a victim of a cop beating after calling for help about 10yrs ago. My neighbors were addicts and we're busting bottles in the community Commons. I called for help. Once they showed up, They threatened to shoot my dog then refused to give me their badge numbers. I took my phone out to record the interaction which sent them into a rage. That's when they grabbed it and started screaming stop resisting while they smashed the phone and proceeded to try and rip my arms out of socket. Don't assume your phone will keep you safe. They don't care if they're filmed because they believe they're untouchable.

I often think of the Stanford Experiment when I think about police officer. It always blew my mind how those people acted when they were given fake power, idk what people expect when you give people real power.

Disbanding the unit means nothing unless they disavow the policy that created it in the first place. They will simply create the same unit under a different name.

They said 'give me your hands' because they knew their chest cams would only show from the torso down, where you couldn't see they were holding his hands. They didn't realize there was a street cam getting the full body shot. How many other officers have done the same thing and gotten away with it because there wasn't another camera getting the full story.

The issue is the police are not held accountable for misconduct. Police treat the "low class" as if they aren't people.

A very similar thing happened in Buffalo N.Y. , police officers Philip Gramaglia and Gary Atti and Buffalo businessman Jack Giammaresi along with 4 other Italian police officers were found guilty of dragging 18 year old Richard Long from his car in the early morning hours of June 25, 1977 after celebrating his H.S. graduation and beating and stomping the teenager to death. Police have a tendency to form "above the law" gangs unless they are closely scrutinized.

"A confrontation occured.". Gotta love the detached third person language here. This "Scorpion Unit" is basically the "Strike Team" on that TV show The Shield. Only this is what these cop gangs do IRL.
