Unless you're a millionaire, you are not living like a king in Lisbon for sure lol
Lisbon's Alfama is a major tourist zone don't be fooled.
Also, the sardine store is the biggest tourist trap. It became a private a joke amongst us locals
So proud to see my Father's art displayed in Museu do Azulejo and now visible through your video Andrew!! I'm such a big fan of yours, I am Daniel Bongard, son of Sylvain Bongard. Thank you for the great content!
This kind of content usually focuses on a facade rather than an authentic portrait of Lisbon. Most places you’ve shown here feel more like an amusement park or a disneyland (except maybe the ginjinha spot). There’s barely any locals left in Alfama, the overwhelming majority of them were pushed out by airbnbs. Not even gonna talk about Chiado. Your average tuga doesn’t attend “social clubs” either. So that’s another stunt directed at wealthy foreigners who are looking into living in a bubble. If that’s your thing, sure why not. Don’t get why wealthy (and not so wealthy for their respective country’s standards) “expats”/ digital nomads are complaining about the new NHR tax rules. Do you really expect to make 5 times or God knows how much more than the average local, inflate housing and services, and not pay a single penny on taxes? The new programme, despite its shortcomings, is a lot fairer than the old one. “I have to live X amount a year in Portugal and now I have to pay X amount of taxes unless I invest in tech, research or local businesses. What a disappointment, this’ll be my plan B”. None of this is sustainable and it doesn’t benefit the overall wellbeing or welfare of Portugal as a whole.
Paying more than 12 Million and not getting a simple Outdoor Rooftop in Lisbon is something I would call - Idiotic, not to use any more depreciative Word !!!
To live you’re better off in Cascais, Estoril or Sintra. 15-20m away and you get a more modern housing situation, also you don’t deal with all the current nonsense in Lisbon.
My Favourite City in Europe! "I love Lisbon, however I don't like climbing hills 😅! ❤LISBON💚
This ranks among the best videos you have ever made Andrew. Bravo 👏 👏
Lisbon is simply beautiful - i haven't seen another city quiet like it
