As someone who has had to climb the ladder a few times in different professional spaces, I can tell you that when certain people are used to privilege and feel like they should just ascend to certain positions, they absolutely hate it when someone else works hard and surpasses them. This is especially true when it comes to Black people. I promise I am no Stephen A Smith apologist. There are a lot of things he says that really grate my nerves, BUT This sounds like a personal level of hate. Like I said, as a person who has been in the position to have to work hard to get where I want to be, I know what it’s like to have people hate on me for working hard and achieving. Usually, this came from non-Black people.
