Young Woman Sells Herself into Womb Slavery
Surrogacy and IVF: A Moral Critique of Commodifying Human Life
Understand why surrogacy and IVF are argued to be morally indefensible systems rooted in capitalist dystopia, using a recent tragic case study to illustrate the inherent risks to human dignity.
Short Summary
- The surrogacy industry operates as a $5 billion market trading in human beings, supported by major tech companies encouraging deferral of family creation.
- New terminology like "intended parents" and "gestational carriers" obscures the reality of buying and renting wombs, leading to contractual conflicts over human lives.
- A detailed case study highlights severe risks—including the death of the baby and near-death of the surrogate—when commercial contracts clash with biological emergencies. This discussion unpacks the bioethical implications of IVF and surrogacy, arguing that these practices inherently reduce humans and family structure to commodities, regardless of outcome.

I hear so many people say "surrogacy is the most selfless thing you can do" and I have to bite my tongue so hard. So relieving to hear someone speak the truth!!
This topic is my Roman Empire. I don’t understand how, as a society, we ever started allowing this. Italy has banned it in every iteration. Thank you SO much for speaking out about it ❤
Bravo Mr. Knowles🎉 Children are not for sale. It doesn’t matter how much you want them. Always, always, a gift to be received❤❤❤
Surrogacy is terrifying to me. I had an acquaintance recently ask if I’d ever carry a baby for a friend or family member if they found out they were infertile. I said absolutely not. She was incredulous saying “but you already have three healthy babies! Your pregnancies and deliveries are so easy! Why wouldn’t you give that gift to someone who couldn’t?” My answer is that any baby I grow in my body is mine from the moment they are conceived. I would never be able to give up a child I carried. Also, I have no interest in artificial insemination or needles or anything. The only babies I will carry are my husbands and they will be made the old fashioned way and any child carrying our genetics will be raised by us. She thought it was horrible and said that stance was selfish. For context, she is unable to carry a baby safely due to medical issues and she is relying on a family member or friends to offer to carry 1-2 for her. I also pointed out to her that I want more kids and will want that option open to me and my husband until an age where it’s not longer possible or safe. She tried to argue that there was enough and I should use my remaining childbearing years to give that “gift” to infertile women. We haven’t spoken since and I’ve found out she’s had similar angry meltdowns with other mutual friends recently. Seems like she might be fishing for a possible surrogate and coming up empty.
Surrogacy should be against the law. That’s all. The sacred should never be up for rent. The same reason why prostitution is wrong.
This is — by far — the most acerbic tone Michael has taken on the show; deservedly so.
This story is absolutely wild
$45k?! I wouldn’t be a surrogate for a million dollars! But $45k?! Praise the Lord I’ve never been this desperate and I pray I never will be 😢
No human should ever be for sale.
