I used to work in a treatment facility for adults with intellectual disabilities. These individuals were behavioral (hurting themselves/other people). They were sent to us as a last resort to find strategies that worked. Most of these individuals were autistic. I agree that autism is not a superpower at the more severe end. The good news is that the staff loved even the most aggressive individuals. Building a rapport with someone with autism is extremely rewarding.

My eleven year old daughter is autistic and this is EXACTLY not only how I feel, but how it is for us practically word for word!! We love her so much but it is so difficult to see her suffer when she is so overwhelmed with so many emotions. It has been a struggle!! My husband and I both fear what will happen when we are gone. We are so thankful to RFK Jr for looking for answers and people like Jasmine Crockett need to keep their dang opinions out of it!!

It was a mistake to lump everything under "autism spectrum." When I was diagnosed it was Asperger's, which has its own specific set of traits. Asperger's is no longer a thing and now I have the same diagnosis as someone who is non-verbal/"low functioning." I still struggle to live a normal day to day life, just in a much different way than a non-verbal person would. Give Asperger's a new name and bring it back.

For the first cigar question, look up PURGING a cigar. It changed my life and I can smoke a whole cigar without it turning too harsh. Essentially, after every tap of ash (about 3-5 times per cigar) you blow gently through your cigar with an open flame at the front and you'll see a bit of poof of flame. That's the tar and stuff they built up on the foot that gets burned away. Tastes so much better after that.

Yes Drew! We must stop playing pin the tail on the spectrum to explain other's poor behavior. It's a disservice to those who are truly struggling and suffering with severe mental or cognitive illness.
