I repaired microwave ovens and CRT displays for 40 years, I would have died if not for the tin foil hat that I wore, my customers thought it was a fashion statement.

Funny thing is smartphone usage is so widespread, there is no more a "control group" they will need to pay some people very heft sums to stay in isolation for long years to compare their data to their counterparts.

What is weird is that the phone is 3 years old at this point, makes me wonder why ban it now? How much was Apple still selling it even?

Radiation is a lot more complicated than you make it out to be but in general phones are safe since there is no reason to have for example a xray emitter inside. The concerning part about this whole story is the way the government seemed to only be concerned about watts per kg which is only one of several metrics that can determine how dangerous radiation can be.

Thanks for the episode. I remember in the 90's this discussion was much more on the news, then suddenly, we heard nothing anymore. Quite a surprise it raised again.

I read a report that people in poor reception areas recieve up to 10 times the radiation, due to their phone having to "shout" in order to be heard by the nearest tower; shame that aspect is missing from the video
