To all the people saying "there's a female Silver Surfer in the comics, how is it woke?", no one is denying that fact, but it's very telling that Feige and company opted to go with that one over the objectively more recognizable male version of the character. If it's not woke, then why are you consciously making a decision to avoid the Norrin Radd depiction and go with a version of the character that no one has heard of or wanted? It proves that they haven't learned a damn thing from all their previous failures

Not gonna lie, the movie was DOA for me as soon as they announced Pedro Pascal. I couldn’t care less about who the Silver Surfer is

The fantastic 4 is DOA. So Disney please cast Lizzo as Galactus. It's only fitting she'd be eating planets.

We aren’t saying that it violates canon, we’re saying that deliberately picking a version of the character that no one’s ever heard of just so you can cast a woman in the role to be your movie universe version is absolutely lame and a terrible decision indicative of significant leadership failures

I can guarantee that most people defending the argument for a female Silver Surfer never even heard of Shalla-Bal before the announcement.

Its a shame that Rise Of The Silver Surfer will be the only time we'll ever see Norrin Radd in live action. Screw Disney and their DEI infested nonsense they're throwing at the audience

This is like choosing Frog Thor as the first depiction and being like, "BUT IT'S IN THE COMICS PROBLEM????"

Well all I can say is that I’m doing my part. The last Disney product I saw was Thor: Love and Thunder. Since then I’ve cancelled subscriptions and avoided everything even vaguely tied to Disney.

And the actual problem is not that there is a female character being used, it is *_why_** she is being used?* Had they "overexplored" the male silver surfer, who is far far better known and a part of the public consciousness, unlike the female Surfer? Was the public _bored_ with the male surfer, having seen him enough and no longer finding him of interest? I'm thinking the answer to both those questions is "Fuck, NO."
