Saagar's all for banning TikTok in the US but when other countries do the same with American tech companies, it's very concerning for him.

Banning a US imperialist CIA psyop app in the name of national security is actually quite reasonable, esp given the history of the US and Brazil. When you say "we will coup whoever we want" in reference to Bolivia's 2019 Lithium coup, don't expect Latin America to be excited about your business and outsized influence.

But i'm confused. Isn't Saagar in favor of shutting down TikTok unless the current owner sell the company to an American company? Why isn't that a HUGE violation of free speech?

12:50 This is a bad analogy. They aren't a news organization, they don't editorialize. Unless you can prove that the PLATFORM isn't neutral, your point makes no sense. Elon doesn't need to be neutral, the platform does.

It’s important to understand that the U.S.’s very permissive take on freedom of speech (which I support) is NOT the norm. In the U.S. the KKk can exist and march, and Westboro Baptist Church can protest funerals, which to much of the world is inconceivable. In Brazil, for example, you can get arrested (without bail) for racial slurs. And it’s much more common for folks to get hefty fines for accusing someone of the accusation is proven to be false (ie lower threshold tor libel). Analyzing events in other countries through US laws and norms will often be flawed and confusing.

Honestly, the only purpose he serves now is to be a reminder that characters like Bruce Wayne & Tony Stark will always be works of pure fiction
