On The Air: The Silenced Caller, The Mojave Phone Booth and The Alien In The Freezer Gather round for three campfire stories from the golden era of late-night radio, when Art Bell kept the lights on for millions of people who couldn't sleep and couldn't stop listening. A psychologist in the Cascade Mountains encounters something in the woods—and brings it home. A frantic caller reaches Art Bell with a warning, and the satellite goes dark before he can finish. A phone booth stands alone in the Mojave Desert for decades, and the calls that come through aren't always from strangers. These aren't ghost stories passed around a fire. They're documented, recorded, and still unresolved. Pull up a chair. The night is long, and some questions don't have clean answers. #ArtBell #CoastToCoastAM #campfirestories 〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰 Executive Producers: Jennifer Gentile Gino Gentile AJ Gentile Patreon Members Editors: Joe Stone Drew Sullivan Brandon Snyder Ryan Fitzgerald Producers: Victoria Young Haley Burke Research: Haley Burke AJ Gentile Gino Gentile Jen Gentile Victoria Young Written/Hosted by: AJ Gentile Hecklefish J. Dear Why Files Team: I was a security guard on the graveyard shift at a massive auto dealership in Vancouver Canada from 1996-2006 in my early 20’s and I listened to Art Bell every night for those 10 years. I heard all these Art Bell episodes live. I basically got paid to listen to Art Bell every night from 10pm-2am for 10 years. AJ is definitely Art Bell 2.0. Thank you for keeping Art Bells dream alive in 2026. All the best from where i live now in El Salvador.

Art Bell had a lot of fans in the truck drivers who would listen to his show in the 1990s while they were driving overnight. Mr Bell was truly a legend.

I was listening to Art Bell the night the Area 51 call came in. After losing his Satellite link he had two switch to a backup ISDN line (older tech) to get back up. He was audibly shook. It was a memorable show!

To all the young ones, it’s hard to describe the experience and influence Coast-to-Coast had on those of us who came of age in the 1990’s. Late at night in your car, in bed, at a friend’s house with the lights low just sipping beers you stole from your dad’s refrigerator in the garage, etc etc. Excitement, debate, scares and laughter, it joined so many of us together in spirit and, sometimes in person. It defined the night.

I spent many nights in the early '90's driving back and forth from college to home on a small, two lane rural county highway. It was just me, Art, and the cornfields for hundreds of miles. Sooo many nights. Makes me smile just thinking about it :) RIP Art, you are legend.

Between The Basement and Campfire stories, AJ is just one small tweak away from going full Art Bell. A call-in line! Just kidding. Maybe.

I think Art Bell was the reason so many of us Gen X'ers are part of the "Great Awakening" Who knows Art... You may be playing an enormous role in SAVING HUMANITY itself! Thanks for the memories, sir.

Hello, the phone booth was put in by the request of my grandfather, Emerson Ray. He used it to contact family and others. Later my mother, Lorene, who worked the mine also used the phone booth for the same purpose. FYI, Pacific Bell took out the phone booth at the request of the National Park Service. Later I took the photo of the tombstone that you have in your video. Additionally, for those who are curious, the Cima Cinder mine was a family owned business. When we were young, all of my cousins, aunts and uncles would spend treasured time together at the Cima Cinder mine I loved it and my grandparents so much I authored two books about them beginning in early 2018. The first was their love story and the second was novel about how they created their American dream in the Mojave Desert beginning in 1948.
