As a European I've heard Americans be proud, or sometimes boastful, about their constitution and I've been told that we don't have anything like it in Europe, even though most countries do. I've also been told that Americans will protect their democracy and that the constitution will help. But I've read the constitution and it doesn't support that stance. There is no protection against malicious actors from within, you have to actively stop people from destroying the fragile democracy you have. And now you have a president that doesn't care about rules, laws or the constitution. You have to act!

I started to cry when you came to the story about the organ transplant recipient. It's been 3 years in January since I lost my 27-year-old son to suicide. There is not a day that goes by that I don't think about him and miss him. Time doesn't heal, it's simply dulls the pain. We donated his organs and he went on to save 8 lives. I know out there somewhere his heart is beating and keeping someone else alive. I haven't yet, but I hope to do so soon, and that is to write a letter to the recipient of my son's heart in hopes of one day hearing my son's heartbeat once again.
