Black and White people must stand together as Americans

I'm white and 2 of my ancestors died in the Civil War fighting slavery. I think my family has paid their share of any reparations.

I'm black. I'm a man. I'm in my 20th year as a registered nurse. I am an American FIRST!!! No one held me down or held me back.

I’m not Black, but I had the honor of serving with a few Black friends in the Army, and I learned a lot from them. Sadly, many of them are now separated from their families, and that is heartbreaking to see. You and Officer Tatum bring up an important point about culture, family, discipline, and personal responsibility. I agree with the message, and I respect both of you, even at 64 years old. We are never too old to learn. It reminds me of something Dr. Wayne Dyer used to teach. It is like going to a doctor and saying, “Doctor, I need medicine for another person because that person is the reason I can’t get ahead in life.” At some point, healing and progress have to start within ourselves.
