Trump DOJ’s SECRET “Fake Lawsuit” Scheme EXPOSED

Attorneys Brian Kabateck and Shant Karnikian expose a legal maneuver the Trump DOJ is running across Republican states: filing "friendly lawsuits" against policies both sides want to eliminate, then immediately settling to get a federal court order striking down the law — bypassing the entire state legislative process. In Texas, the DOJ sued over a two-decade-old law granting in-state tuition to undocumented students. Six hours later, AG Ken Paxton signed a consent judgment killing it. A DOJ official later bragged at a private gathering that they "got rid of a 24-year-old statute in six hours." The same playbook was used in Oklahoma and Kentucky. In Florida, it's even more troubling — six lawyers who fought the Biden administration's parole policies on behalf of Florida are now high-ranking DOJ officials, and the administration is entering a 15-year stipulation against paroling people awaiting hearings. The hosts call this collusive litigation — there's no real controversy, no adversarial parties, and no standing under Supreme Court precedent. It circumvents state legislatures, denies public debate, and lets a federal judge strike down laws that elected representatives chose not to repeal. Kabateck notes he was appointed by a judge to take over a case involving the same tactic, and government officials went to prison for it.
