Thank you Shawn, these are the greatest interviews. These Vietnam Veterans dont get the respect they deserve..we need to hear from more of them before they ate gone.
Johnnie’s book inspired me to become an 0331 Machine Gunner. After experiencing combat myself a few times, the stories became even more real and raw. Thank you both for providing perspective and context for some of the most confusing and difficult times in my life. Heroes like Johnnie gave me the perseverance to push through 20 years of military service. Those words meant more than you probably realize. Can’t wait to see this episode.
He reminded me of my dad. He was a Marine in the Pacific in WWII. Every time he tried to tell a story, he would cry. So all he ever talked about how good the fishing there was. It was hard to watch.
My uncle suffered till his dying day with these memories. Jimmy Burnette. Greatest man I ever knew and the best uncle a country boy could have. RIP uncle Jimmy
The wounds of war last a lifetime
My father was a gunner and my grandfather bagged, tagged and buried the fallen. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you Shawn for your show given our Veterans their voice🙏 God bless y'all 🙏
I got tears when Johnny tore up. Thank God I stayed in the states and didn't have to go to Vietnam. USAF 1970 to 73. I hated seeing people come back from Vietnam all strung out. Now I really see why.
Awe man. This one is going to be rough. 😢
"Guns Up"!!!!!! Come on. I was an M60 gunner for 3 years in the Army and when I was just coming to faith in Christ I found Johnnie's book and it changed my life!
