Description

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said he has directed the Israel Defense Forces to increase its control of Gaza to 70 percent - a significant change to the "yellow line" of demarcation set by the US-brokered ceasefire agreement last year. Mr Netanyahu said Israel was "squeezing Hamas", as the IDF advances further into territory controlled by the militant group. Analysts say the operation is pushing Palestinian civilians into a smaller and smaller strip of land. This comes just days after the Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz spoke about plans for a large number of Palestinians to "voluntarily emigrate" from Gaza. Human rights groups have warned that this may amount to the forced displacement of civilians - which could be considered a war crime. Some right-wing voices in Israel have called for Jewish settlements to be established in Gaza, the way they have in the occupied West Bank. Under the 20-point plan put forward by US President Donald Trump, the next phase of the Gaza peace plan would see Hamas disarm and Israeli troops withdraw, but indirect talks have stalled, as Hamas refuses to give up its weapons. Our Middle East correspondent Yolande Knell tells us what Israel's next move could be, and how the Israeli elections could influence Mr Netanyahu's policy in Gaza. I don't need to watch this. The world knows what the plan is because we see it in progress daily for over the past two years. 😢😢😢

This is just some dismal journalism. How can you say you are surprised by Netanyahu making open plans to illegally seize more Gazan land, when that has been the clear goal in all Israeli military actions against their neighbors since the inception of Israel. They haven't been subtle about it. Let me do the BBCs job for them: Hamas has not disarmed in the face of constant military aggression. Israel has repeatedly broken the ceasefire with over 900 killed in attacks since the ceasefire was put in place. They have extended their 'yellow line' multiple times. They have not kept to the terms of the 'plan' in allowing sufficient aid into Gaza, maintaining an illegal blockade and kidnapping foreigners outside Israeli waters then subjecting them to cruel and unusual treatment. Key Israeli politicians, media personalities, and members of the public openly discuss actions equating to ethnic cleansing and genocide, as the IDF create conditions unsuitable to human life in Gaza, and settlers engage in acts of ethnic cleansing without any opposition by Israeli authorities despite widespread reporting of the action. Do better BBC, you're a national embarrassment.
