In Japan, the Bank of Japan is top 10 shareholder in about 40 to 90% of all listed Japanese companies. Cuba of the '50s was run by President Batista who brought in gangster Meyer Lansky to develop the Havana entertainment center with casinos and nightclubs. They attracted American tourists, offered pleasure junkets to American politicians. A number of American entertainers got their start in the Havana Cuban nightlife, like Frank Sinatra. Meanwhile, outside of Havana Cubans suffered destitute poverty
