Description

Wondering about the long-term reliability of popular SUVs and trucks? We dive into our One-Year Road Test reviews of the Ford F-150 Hybrid, Subaru Forester, and more to see what we love and hate. Run a VIN check or license plate search to uncover maintenance history, open recalls, and title statuses before you buy at http://bumper.com/edmunds Appraisal Tool – https://www.edmunds.com/appraisal/?utm_campaign=qr_code&utm_source=youtube Car Listings – https://www.edmunds.com/new-cars-for-sale/?utm_campaign=qr_code&utm_source=youtube Ratings and Reviews – https://www.edmunds.com/car-reviews/?utm_campaign=qr_code&utm_source=youtube 00:00 Intro 00:39 Subaru Forester 03:42 Ford F-150 Hybrid 05:33 BMW X3 09:33 Ford Expedition 11:25 Edmunds' Take Our drivers spend a full year — sometimes more — living with the 20-odd cars that make up our One-Year Road Test cars to give you the ultimate real-world ownership reviews. Today, we're catching you up on a few standouts in our fleet, sharing what broke, what we love, and what's turned out to be really hard to live with. First up, let's talk about our Subaru Forester Hybrid. While the seats offer fantastic comfort for long hauls, the tech is a major letdown. The infotainment screen is incredibly laggy and frustrating to use, earning it a spot as one of the worst systems currently on sale. If you're eyeing a Subaru Forester Hybrid, you'll need to weigh that frustrating tech against its overall comfort. Next, we check in on our trusty Ford F-150 Hybrid. After serving us for nearly five years and racking up 75,000 miles, its reliability has been rock solid. We can confidently say the hybrid setup is the best powertrain option for the Ford F-150. We're also halfway through our year with the BMW X3 xDrive30. It boasts a fantastic powertrain with plenty of torque, and the driver aids are incredibly well tuned. However, it’s definitely a love/hate relationship; the convoluted infotainment software has driven some of our staff crazy. Finally, we welcome a 2026 Ford Expedition to the fleet. As our favorite full-size three-row SUV, which recently beat the Chevy Tahoe in our comparison, this fully loaded Platinum trim gives us everything we need to test out which features are actually worth spending for. While we've enjoyed its massive space, the heavy steering and a steering wheel shape that blocks the BlueCruise sensor for taller drivers are early gripes. Stick around to see our full reliability updates on these models! Automakers need to stop putting hvac controls on the screens. People want buttons and dials not this minimalist crap.

How about a 100k mile road test? Do you guys do that? Also would love to see ownership cost breakdown - regular maintenance costs, etc.

Screens are not for cars.... Stop putting basic functions on a screen... I want to drive not watch TV in a car....

Dashboard screens have gone bugnuts! When even simple ergonomic controls get buried layers deep in some lethargic menu, it makes zero sense! Just because you can, doesn't mean you should! In a time when distracted driving is a problem, adding more distractions is ridiculous! Have you seen the dashboard of the new "Slate" truck? No screens! You have one job to do behind the wheel - pay attention and drive, not to play with screens!

It's wonderful seeing real, down to earth people discussing facts about vehicles-well done, Edmunds!

You should ask your viewers if they are new car buyers or buyers on the used vehicle market. I believe you would find the latter on viewership. This leads me to believe that you should buy used 3 to 4 year old vehicles with 40K or more miles and drive and review them to 100K miles and more. Testing vehicles new does not really test longevity and misses the large demographic out there that buys used or newish at a savings.

Wondering about how our One-Year Road Test fleet is faring these days? Here's a quick look at what we've got going in the Edmunds garage. Find out the good, the bad and the ugly that we've learned from driving these vehicles just like you would. Where would you take our one-year fleet for the ultimate test? Let us know in the comments!

I know that their EV’s are mirrored with Toyota, but man, I sure wish the 26 Subaru Trailseeker and Getaway came with the same infotainment, controls and eyesight as the 26 Outback.
