We Sat Down W/ Someone Who Went To The Same Jail As Diddy & Luigi - The Truth About MDC Brooklyn
MDC Brooklyn: A Former Inmate Details Dorm Life, Culture, and Survival Tactics
Discover unfiltered insights into the intense sensory overload, unique social economy (currency traded in mackerel), and surprising humanity found within the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) Brooklyn, straight from someone who lived it 24/7.
Short Summary
- Inmates in the massive dorm unit survive sensory overload by establishing routines, utilizing commissary items like radios for sanity, and trading canned fish (Macs) as currency.
- Life in the general population dorm is characterized by minimal privacy, constant noise, and the significant psychological toll of 24/7 fluorescent lighting.
- Survival involved creative bartering for better food and observing strict social norms, such as how to negotiate the trade of coveted food items.
- The interview details extreme moments, including witnessing an in-cell death and a guard controversially showing an explicit movie to relieve inmate tension.
- Former inmate Brad now dedicates his life to guiding new defendants through the emotional devastation of the federal justice system, emphasizing personal accountability.
This guide presents a detailed account of incarceration at MDC Brooklyn, focusing on the unique environment of a 120-person dorm, the established inmate economy, and essential coping mechanisms required to navigate the high-stress setting. These details offer direct context for recent high-profile placements like Luigi Manion, SPF, and Diddy.

mr mango doing the interview is actually so fitting because when they film their regular videos, he’s always asking really good, clarifying questions already. really cool to see and i hope we get to see it again!
I love your husband stepping up to the plate for you when you needed him!! I've always loved hearing his questions through your videos, so I'm sure he was more prepared than he was even expecting!
Can we just take a minute to appreciate Brad and how far he has come?! You go Brad
Can we stop for a sec and give Mr Mango a round of applause for how well he did with his first interview. Great job sir. Stephanie, you and your team are always impressing me with the quality of your work. Thank you all for the time and effort you put into your posts.
he is such a warm guy. the way he answered the questions and tried to be fair to the cooks and other officers
I’m brad’s brother and while I’ve heard these stories over the years, I’ve never heard them all strung together in such a manner. It was hard to hear but at the same time I can’t help but feel very proud of him for getting through this huge challenge in his life. He is a great man.
Why is nobody talking about how brad got into HARVARD? That’s so cool bro, imagine just being like “oh yeah, I actually got into Harvard.” WHAT? 😟
I love how Brad makes sure that he words his sentence well and changes the terms that are more specific and kinder.
Stephanie I hope you can cover the story of YU MENLONG. He’s a famous Chinese actor and was set up by his friends and other actors/actresses and directors. They invited him to a party (17 ppl in attendance) and forced him to drink and injected him with drugs then he was r@ped by multiple men, tortured for 3 days, cut open to retrieve a USB drive he swallowed that contained info on those high in power then he was thrown from the balcony TWICE. The first time didn’t off him so they dragged him back up and threw him off the balcony again making sure he face-planted then came down and beat his face with a rock to further disfigure him. This was ruled a suicide. There’s CCTV footage catching him being dangled from a balcony by multiple men screaming for help. Ppl in neighboring apartments also heard him screaming and begging for help and the police were called but turned away. His mother spoke out saying she knows foul play is involved but his agency demanded he be cremated right away with no way to conduct an accurate autopsy. His mother was told to keep quiet in exchange for his ashes and now she is said to be missing. Please cover this. The Chinese media is covering it up and deleting his socials. The ppl involved (a few being his friends) are still posting on social media living their best lives with no consequences.
I am so grateful that Stephanie began the video by trying to sort of reframe and zoom out the interview to be more than the sensationalist clickbaity title (which I am not opposed to, that's the business) But reminding people that conversations about places like mdc are also necessary for things like prison reform was such a good move on her part
