The Usual Suspects Reaction, Recap, Commentary, Analysis, & Spoiler Review!! Join Andrew Gordon and Aaron Alexander as they unravel the intricate web of crime and deception in the 1995 cult classic, The Usual Suspects. Written by Mission: Impossible & Jack Reacher scribe, Christopher McMcQuarrie, & Directed by the once-prolific Bryan Singer (X-Men, Superman Returns), this iconic crime thriller follows a group of small-time criminals whose lives become entwined in a mysterious plot masterminded by the elusive Keyser Söze. Kevin Spacey (L.A. Confidential, House of Cards, Being a Weirdo on YouTube Now) delivers a mesmerizing performance as the unassuming "Verbal" Kint—whose seemingly ordinary tale conceals a shocking secret. Alongside him, Gabriel Byrne (Hereditary, End of Days) shines as the enigmatic Dean Keaton, while Stephen Baldwin (Bio-Dome, The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas) and Benicio del Toro (Sicario, Traffic, Guardians of the Galaxy) add to the film’s compelling ensemble. Kevin Pollak (A Few Good Men) rounds out the cast with his memorable portrayal of Todd Hockney, along with appearances from Chazz Palminteri (Bullets Over Broadway), Pete Postlethwaite (Inception, The Town), Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad, Do The Right Thing), Clark Gregg (The Avengers), and MORE! Andrew & Aaron break down every iconic moment—from the tension-filled interrogation scenes to the climactic reveal that has defined the film’s legacy + The Lineup, Kobayashi's Proposal, Who's the Gimp?, I'm Smarter than You, New York's Finest, The Greatest Trick the Devil Ever Pulled, & Beyond!! Man… you have to realize.. back when this came out we didn’t analyze movies how we do now . We was just along for the ride and the reveal was impactful!

The reason you were confused about why Fenster (Benicio Del Toro) was dead in a cave is bc you two were discussing actor and character names over the top of the dialogue when the movie explained it. As Verbal said literally seconds before that scene in the cave, "Fenster couldn't handle the idea of slumming for Söze," so he walked out on the job. Obviously, as they set up in the previous scene with Kobayashi (Pete Postlethwaite), saying no to Söze wasn't an option. Verbal's brief exposition tells us that Fenster tried to walk out on the job, so Söze had him killed, then called the rest of the gang to tell them where to find his body. It was a little message to drive home the point that their options are (1) do the job, or (2) die.

So you were talking right over the part that explained why Benicio Torro was found dead in the cave... right after Verbal said Finster couldn't take being a lapdog and tried to run he said the lawyer called and told them where they could find him, and they found his dead body, implying Kobayashi and Keyzer Soze had him killed for refusing the job and trying to run.

So Keyser Soze’s identity was obvious, but not what happened to Fenster. 😂

40:30 - Maybe if you weren't TALKING during a crucial scene you would know the answer? Maybe? 04:25 - "This film is 'hey you really gotta pay attention'"

I think it "seems" obvious because today Kevin Spacey is the biggest household name of the actors in said movie.

This movie and Citizen Kane have a lot in common. People watch them and conplain about how cliche it is, not realising that these movies popularised so many of those cliches.

The police lineup was supposed to to be a serious scene but benecio del toro kept farting and no one could keep it together so they just ran with it
