It's not just barricades, Saagar, many people literally have their doors welded shut during these lockdowns. The video clips of this incident are absolutely horrific. You can hear the people in that apartment screaming for dear life, "Let us out! Please save us!" Meanwhile, cars parked outside couldn't be moved because after being unused for several months (yes, they've been in lockdown that long), their batteries are dead and they won't start. Thus, the firefighting crews weren't even able to get close enough to the building to put out the fire. Btw, as others have said already... you guys should invite Matt and Winston from ADV China to come on the show sometime. You'll find no better source for what's happening in China.

If you don't understand how surveillance works in China then you don't understand how extremely brave these Chinese citizens are.

I saw somewhere that the Chinese people were kinda angry once they saw that no one at the Qatar world cup was wearing a mask. Then the death due to the fire started this protest. The inability to lead a normal life or work jobs is also a huge factor

I'm an international American student at Peking University student here in Beijing at the moment. Things really do feel unlike I've ever experienced in my 10+ years of traveling to and living in China. Very wild that there have been protests on campus. Glad we could be part of whatever this is, it's history in the making.

The China Show covered it really well. It's widespread. They showed footage from Inner Mongolia, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Xian and Urumqi. That's north, south, east and west
