Not always Megyn, Pierce Brosnan has been married to his wife, Keely Shaye Smith, for many years, and while her body has changed over time, he has always spoken about her with deep love and admiration. To him, she is still beautiful, and their bond clearly goes far beyond appearance.
HATED the book. SHE defied every piece of legal advice from her wealthy family's lawyers AND she's an Ivy lawyer herself. She ceded all control of $ and acted surprised when he enforced their pre-nups. She spend pages "worried" she won't have a house. HA! She fails to mention aside from her trusts that paid for the houses & she had $800k/yr in passive income.
Belle wouldn’t have survived my life. I listened to one interview she did and laughed, not at her pain, as I am sure she was broken, but seriously, pain is relative for sure. This woman wrote a book because she is privileged, massively privileged. The whole story is actually boring. My life, including millions of people, have far more compelling, painful and interesting stories that deserve to be heard.

When Oprah endorsed “Strangers” and Belle Burden, it was enough to make me not want to read it.
So Belle and her husband had problems and he left her during the pandemic. My husband and I had stresses during the pandemic. He also had health issues that added more stress. But he didn't tell me he was done after 30 years. Instead, he committed suicide and left me to find him. Try working through that one, Belle.
If your marriage is based on your looks and good health……then it’s only a matter of time you will replaced by someone…..not what a REAL marriage and vows should mean.
One reason readers connected so strongly with the book is that Burden frames the story not as "my husband cheated" but as "the person I built my life with turned out to be someone I didn't know." That theme resonates even with readers who don't share her wealth or social status.
