The US military has launched an operation in Ecuador, publicly framed as a fight against drug trafficking and designated terrorist groups, but which is more likely a pretext to secure oil resources and establish permanent military bases after Ecuadorians voted to protect their rainforest and reject foreign bases. Jimmy points out that US-backed President Daniel Noboa comes from a family accused of cocaine trafficking, and argues that the US consistently sides with drug traffickers when it serves strategic interests like oil and regional hegemony. Jimmy and Americans’ Comedian Kurt Metzger connect this military incursion to broader US imperial patterns in Venezuela, Cuba, Iran, and Palestine, asserting that drug war rhetoric is a cover for resource wars and that Trump has become the biggest warmongering president in recent history.
