Mankind survived the last ice age we are certainly capable of surviving another one.
I'm from the Chicago area so I'm used to extreme weather from -40° winters, 100°+ summers, flash floods, and powerful tornadoes
LIFE AFTER PEOPLE, IS THAT YOU?😢
What AMOC disruption leads to, almost invariably, is *hemispheric* cooling, driven primarily by the fact that sudden disruption of Gulf Stream flow from the Atlantic to the Arctic (bear in mind, the Atlantic Ocean is far more directly connected to the Arctic Ocean than the Pacific despite being a smaller ocean overall) results in the cessation of all undercutting of Arctic sea ice in the Norwegian and Kara Seas. No more undercutting of sea ice by warm water means that Arctic sea ice suddenly has free reign to expand into the North Atlantic, which in turn would make the North Atlantic whiter and more reflective, triggering an albedo feedback. Where the warming gets diverted to, however, isn't merely south of the Mason-Dixon Line but rather south of the equator, since the upwelling end of the AMOC isn't tropical but subantarctic. All that Agulhas salinity leakage that typically feeds the Gulf Stream would instead feed the Brazil Current, which in turn would actually intensify. So, instead of Florida getting more hurricanes, you'd get more of them into southern Brazil, and, because of the change in ITCZ position resulting from high pressure in the Caribbean and the persistent El Niño effect that shows up as a consequence, Peru, Hawaii and California as well. Essentially, the west and east coast climates would completely flip, with repeats of Hurricanes 50L.NONAME/Catarina, Iniki, and Hilary becoming far more common occurrences. Places most likely to dry out, meanwhile, would be places like Australia and Southeast Asia, because that diversion of Indian Ocean salinity to the Brazil Current would in turn send all that extra-salty water back to the Indian Ocean again, where it would catalyze a persistent positive Indian Ocean Dipole to go along with the El Niño-like conditions.

There are two versions of this episode, there are some different dialogue that JV Martin does in one of these versions. The other version was uploaded to History on Youtube before it got deleted and now the DVD original version is what is the standard version to watch now.
What happened to all the global warming hysteria? In the 50s we all heard about a coming ice age. Then it was "if it wasn't for global warming we would be in another ice age". Next it was global warming is going to melt the polar ice. Now it's another ice age?
