water is wet ahh study
AI is making people dumber. And here’s today’s sponsor: AI
claude whats a localhost and why cant my freinds view it? fix it and dont make any mistakes
Jokes on them, I was already dumb.
AI is the prequel to Idiocracy.
Of course the group that manually wrote the code has a better understanding of the codebase. Thing is, employers and companies don't care about that. They want you to produce software fast. The only study on this topic that would be actually useful is one where you take senior or semi senior devs, one group with AI and the other no AI, give them user stories, track down how much time it takes for them to finish it, how many bugs were there and their severity, how much time they took to solve them, period. That's it. If you're faster with AI and cause less bugs, "codebase understanding" becomes irrelevant for the company.
Tbf telling the participants to write code as fast as possible is as close to corporate reality as possible
It’s like the next level calculator. You shouldnt learn math initially with a calculator. You need to know how the operations work. Same with coding. A calculator is only as good as its user, same with AI
Compiler made me stupid. I can't even write a kernel from scratch in pure assembly. :(
New position: "Real coder needed to clean up AI codebases for production"
