I’m an aerospace/manufacturing engineer, I worked at SpaceX for 7 years building rockets, spacecraft and satellites. I have extensive experience working with CNC machine tools based on my background. Looking at the precision of these stone vases, it would be nearly impossible to recreate them using any of the methods that flint suggests. The tight tolerances and low variance of 3D curved surfaces requires precision tooling, tool holders, bits and then a measurement device capable of ensuring the tolerances are within spec. The tight tolerances on these vases cannot be explained with a spinning “compass” because the curves span 3 dimensionally in both thickness of the case material AND width across the vase. This cannot happen on accident using wood tool holders and a flint bit. The tolerance of wood is low and it has highly vibrational characteristics and most critically the method of securing the bit to the wood would create much more variability than Flint realizes. Even if wood and flint were used as the tools (which I highly doubt), a humans hand and eye cannot create a feed rate of the tooling that results in tolerances these exact. You must have mechanically controlled feed rates, precision tooling and microscopic levels of measurement devices, non of which are described in this video. Also the most egregious comments made by Flint are that they used spinning tools to create the perfect roundness of the vase, while ignoring the fact that there are two handles sticking out. You can’t turn something on a lathe with handles in the way, it’s physically impossible. If we wanted to create one of these vases today we would have to use a 5 Axis CNC mill, not a lathe, which would require the Egyptians to have a tool that rivals those in the aerospace industry today. Flint you might be a trained archaeologist, but please for the love of god stay in your lane when it comes to manufacturing because you literally have no clue.

Flint is awesome. So glad you're giving him this platform where he's not the 'baddy', like on Rogan's shit show
