THE D-DAY DROP WAS PURE CHAOS… Full Length Watch Alongs & Early Access: https://www.patreon.com/thereelrejects Gift Someone (Or Yourself) An RR Tee! https://shorturl.at/hekk2 Andrew Gordon & John Humphrey step into one of the greatest war series ever made, bringing you their Band of Brothers Episodes 1 & 2 reaction, recap, commentary, breakdown, analysis, and full spoiler review!! Andrew Gordon & John Humphrey react to and break down Band of Brothers Episodes 1 & 2, the HBO World War II series produced by Steven Spielberg (Saving Private Ryan, Schindler’s List) and Tom Hanks (Cast Away, Forrest Gump), following Easy Company of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment from brutal training to the front lines of D-Day. The opening episode introduces the formation of Easy Company, highlighting the relentless training under Captain Herbert Sobel, played by David Schwimmer (Friends, Madagascar), whose harsh leadership style pushes the soldiers to their limits while forging them into an elite unit. As discussed in the reaction, the show immediately grounds itself in realism by blending interviews with real veterans and dramatized storytelling, emphasizing the mindset of men who volunteered knowing the risks and sacrifices ahead . The story then transitions into the historic invasion of Normandy, where Episode 2 delivers a chaotic and immersive depiction of D-Day. Damian Lewis (Homeland, Billions) shines as Richard Winters, whose calm leadership becomes the backbone of the unit as scattered paratroopers regroup behind enemy lines and launch a daring assault on German artillery positions. The battle sequences are intense and grounded, capturing the confusion, fear, and split-second decision-making that define combat, while also showcasing the teamwork and trust built during training. With a stacked cast including Ron Livingston (Office Space), Donnie Wahlberg (The Sixth Sense, Blue Bloods), Neal McDonough (Minority Report, Captain America), and Michael Cudlitz (The Walking Dead), Band of Brothers blends character-driven storytelling with large-scale historical events, delivering both emotional weight and technical realism. Throughout the reaction, Andrew & John highlight the contrast between training and real combat, the rise of Winters as a leader, and how quickly the series shifts from discipline and structure into pure survival as war becomes a reality. #BandOfBrothers #BandOfBrothersReaction #WW2 #HBOMax #DDay #EasyCompany #WarSeries #Reaction #TVReaction #historyexplained Follow *Andrew Gordon* https://www.youtube.com/@MovieSource https://www.instagram.com/agor711/?hl=en https://twitter.com/Agor711 0:00 Checking in! 2:09 Band of Brothers 1x1 Reaction 48:11 Band of Brothers 1x2 Reaction 1:12:48 Band of Brothers 1x1 Review 1:37:20 Band of Brothers 1x2 Review Intense Suspense by Audionautix is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ RR Clips & Shorts Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@ReelRejectsClips Follow TheReelRejects On The Socials: IG: https://www.instagram.com/reelrejects/ TT: https://www.tiktok.com/@thereelrejects?lang=en TWITTER: https://twitter.com/thereelrejects FB: https://www.facebook.com/TheReelRejects/ Music Used In Ad: Hat the Jazz by Twin Musicom is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Happy Alley by Kevin MacLeod is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Head Editor: https://www.instagram.com/prapermedia Supervising Producer: https://twitter.com/nerdchronic?lang=en Co-Editor: Greg Alba Co-Editor: John Humphrey Music In Video: Airport Lounge - Disco Ultralounge by Kevin MacLeod is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Follow & Listen to Us Wherever You Get Your Podcasts!! - Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/3XHMwbveiznxSOGxN9XT0M - Google Podcasts: https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR0cHM6Ly9mZWVkcy5tZWdhcGhvbmUuZm0vc3Rhci13YXJzLXRhbGs - Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-reel-rejects-tv-movie-recaps/id1616339990 - Audible: https://www.audible.com/pd/The-Apocalypse-Podcast/B08JJP58FG PLAYLISTS: Trailer Reactions & Reviews: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL-bIhJVeYWw9ZsLdoAQFpx38s2hhyFgDe Movie Reviews: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL-bIhJVeYWw-comtadVs8b9JsZEWHUyr8 Movie Talk (News, Spoiler Reviews, & Film Rumors!!!): https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL-bIhJVeYWw8fPQ-21NVSb2IOwIiHbVt8 Youtube Video Reactions & Discussions: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL-bIhJVeYWw_qwcPsN_vOxXC6IVzrOQYG Sketches & Short Films: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL-bIhJVeYWw_zWuTRfBOUP3aYyIYRzc2y

This truly is one of the great mini series on WW2. I actually had the privilege of walking some of the battlefields in Normandy that men of Easy Company fought on. I am really looking forward to seeing your reactions to the stories of these men.

They did save Sobel's life, but not in the way you were thinking. Sobel jumped into Normandy on D-Day, so his 'promotion' to commanding the jump school at Chilton Foliat did not get him out of a combat role. But that promotion did get him out of the HQ plane for Easy Company, which was shot down, killing everyone on board, including Lt. Meahan and 1st Sgt Evans (Simon Pegg).

This is not the birth of the airforce. This is the birth of the airborne. My grandfather was a paratrooper during ww2 and this series is a very special connection with him

Not only does this series have a lot of well-known character actors in it, it also has a few back-then unknown actors in small supporting roles (often appearing in only one episode) who later became big names. It is fun to watch this and see people like Michael Fassbender, Tom Hardy, James McAvoy, Simon Pegg or Andrew Scott pop up here and there.

Malarkey talking with the captured German soldier is even more wild in real life. In the show they have it that they lived close to each other. In actual life they didn't just live close to each other, they actually worked across the street from each other. The adaptation changed it because they didn't think people would actually believe the true story. The series is based on Stephen Ambrose's book. He spent years tracking down and recording the men of Easy company's stories. If you like the series the book is excellent read.

"...did his brother die?" Dude! Did you just completely not pay attention to the scene immediately preceding that?

I havent seen anyone else mention it, but there is an unofficial 11th episode, called "We Stand Alone Together" Its free in its entirety on Youtube and is the interviews with the surviving men, many of which are shown at the beginning of the episodes. But its significantly longer and gives a TON more explaination of the real events that happened. You get a real sense of who the men are as well as how good of a job the actors did portraying them. Its required viewing after the series.
