Description

Michael & Ashleigh watch Shaolin Soccer, a wildly fun martial arts comedy about a former Shaolin monk who reunites his brothers to create the most unconventional soccer team ever. Mixing high-energy kung fu action with over-the-top humor, the film follows their underdog journey to bring Shaolin spirit to the world of professional sports — with spectacular, ridiculous, and unforgettable results. Directed by Stephen Chow (Kung Fu Hustle, CJ7, Journey to the West: Conquering the Demons), the film stars Stephen Chow (Kung Fu Hustle, The Mermaid, Journey to the West), Ng Man-tat (A Moment of Romance, Fight Back to School, The Lucky Guy), Zhao Wei (Red Cliff, Mulan (2020), Painted Skin), Patrick Tse (The Sword, Time Before Time, Shanghai Blues), and Danny Chan Kwok-kwan (Ip Man 3, Legend of the Fist: The Return of Chen Zhen, Kung Fu Hustle). ____________________ Edit by CineJump Team & Praper Media Thumbnail by Praper Media www.CineJump.com www.PraperMedia.com ___________________________________________________ SOCIAL MEDIA: ~CINEPALS~ YouTube: @CinePals Insta: https://instagram.com/TheCinePals Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheCinePals ~MICHAEL BOOSE~ Instagram: @BooseIsLoose ~ASHLEIGH MORGHAN~ Instagram: @AshleighMorghan ___________________________________________________ SHORT FILMS PLAYLIST: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL34B19BA788E18384 Click here to subscribe and know when the next video drops: http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=jabykoay Thanks for watching!!!

I don't know why reactors are always recommended Kungfu Hustle first before Shaolin Soccer. It's supposed to be the other way around

Trust me, Stephen Chow still has many, many very famous comedy films not known by international viewers. As a Hong Konger, you would find his films especially hilarious because there are cultural differences—some nuances just can’t be fully captured through translation alone. This might also be why many of his other works haven’t been distributed internationally.

Rest in Power, Coach Fung @ Ng Man Tat. You showed the brothers their true potential. You showed the world kung fu is in everything ✊🏻

This was a great movie and I watched it when it first came out. As a native Cantonese speaker, I can tell you the subtitle was quite off. like the kid doing the Praying Mantis, the main actor didnt say ''learn shaolin'', he said ''Don't insult Shaolin'' 😂

My absolute favorite part of this movie? When Stephan Chow speaks Mandarine to the main girl despite speaking Cantonese throughout the rest of the movie ❣️

There is another version of the film. In fact, there are at least a couple more, where the opening scene was a bit longer, and it starts in the locker room. Basically, Golden Leg was paid to miss the goal. I think a large sum was provided to "fix" the game, and the idea was for them to share the benefits. In one version, it was even revealed that the check used to pay him bounced, so he was left crippled AND poor. In case, it wasn't quite clear, they even foreshadowed the thing, with his team being called "Fixers". While the scene does provide a lot more backstory, it does make Golden Leg seem a bit less sympathetic, since he was a bit of a jerk to Hung. One thing I like about the film, is even though the CGI is a bit obvious and cheesy, sometimes, it still fits in great, within the context of the film. When things are being done for comedic effect, the effects are allowed to be crazier & look a bit faker, like when Fung writes "Shaoilin Forever" above the temple. Other effects are rather good. I think they worked well with the technology of the time and its limitations. Kung Fu Hustle is absolutely recommended.

This movie is great. I wonder why, in the US, you don't have the original soundtrack. Some tracks have been replaced by "Celebration," which you know, and "Everybody Loves Kung Fu Fighting." I saw this movie in theaters when it first came out; I was a kid. We had it in French, and we also had the original soundtrack, even though the lyrics were dubbed in French.
