Oh, my gosh, FINALLY someone has Stephen Kinzer on a show! His books, OVERTHROW and ALL The SHAH's MEN are must read books. Look up Stephen Kinzer videos talking about his books here on YT. Listening to Kinzer's videos starting in 2020 with the lockdowns is what first started me waking up to the truth of the corruption of the CIA and what we've done in other countries. It's the first I'd heard of the 1953 American coup in Iran. Thank you for having him on! Hope to see more of him.
I’m really glad you brought Stephen on. He’s actually the person who changed the trajectory of my thinking. Many years ago, I somehow (can't remember exactly how anymore) came across his book Overthrow, online. I had never heard of him before. But I bought the book and read it, and it was one of the most beautifully written and eye opening books for me. At the time, I was a strong supporter of the Iraq War and believed in the idea of the U.S. spreading democracy around the world. After reading his book, my worldview began to shift completely. It marked the beginning of a long process of rethinking many of my assumptions, and I'm now 100% opposite of where I used to be. I have always wondered why he is not more widely known. He should be on every major podcast. And Glenn, thank you for your show. I watch it every day. I don’t think the episodes are too short at all, even an hour feels too short when you have such interesting guests.
I admire Stephen Kinzer and I have read many of his books.
Kinzer is absolutely right. You can't separate economic interest from geopolitical domination. "Imperialism, the highest stage of capitalism."—Lenin
We can learn a lot from Stephen Kinzer who has an understanding and grasp of historical events and the imperialist rôle of the United States.
Glenn Diesen you outdo yourself again and again with the best of the best analyst and guest in the world ❤ Greetings from Denmark 🇩🇰🇩🇰
Examine ALL dictatorships around the world, and you will find Britain and the US at the heart of them. And when I say examine, I mean looking beyond the published histories.
I'm surprised that he left out the coup d'tate in Liberia, Africa's first republic and democracy, in 1980, killing President William Tolbert.
" there will never be a coup in the US because there's no American embassy there" ,, Thanks for putting a meaningful smile on my face.
I find it incredible that people, who do not agree with the actions of the USA, still repeat their propaganda. It was never about liberal democracy, their system and all that nonsense. It was always about money and imperialism. Smedley Butler wrote "War Is a Racket" almost a century ago and he described the USA wars from the early 1900.
