Wow, they handed out hundreds of thousands of distraction machines to kids and it didn't go well? Who could have foreseen that.
"Progress was the sales pitch, dependency is the business model"
That's not the Quality Learing I had when I was growing up.
This “stupidification” has been going on for a lot longer than 10 years.
I have been a middle school teacher for nearly 20 years and I think about this issue daily. The kids are noticeably less capable and they use their laptops constantly whenever there is a free second. Most teachers are doing a majority of their lessons on them as well. I do not. The kids read print and write on paper in my class. Many have told me they appreciate it. Even the kids know it’s too much.
Entire generations of Americans who've never read a book. That's extremely sobering
I cannot say how many times I've had a lot of coworkers tell me they "don't have time to read" and yet still binge watch entire tv shows or videogames or even tiktok more than what is reasonable.
Wrose than that, it's turning kids against America.

The English class I took was a joke, the "big project" of the semester was called "The Happiness Project" ... we were supposed to identify 3 ways to make ourselves happier and then do them! I was astonished that this is a COLLEGE level English class. I dropped out of the semester. Don't get me started on Interpersonal Communications class.......
