Zero is the lock to the unknowable and the key to the unknown. The definition of what you don't know, and the afterthought of what you can never know.
Even infinity as a numeric placeholder is matched by negative infinity. Truly 0 is the one unique number. Great topics @CloserToTruth keep them coming
I'd love to see a video that explores the relationship between zero and infinity.
In math, sometimes adding zero can make things work out. Say you have b and you add a - a you get b + a - a but rearranging things you "complete" the expression and this produces something nice. See the derivation of the derivative of the product of two differentiable functions. Another "trick" that sometimes works is multiplying by one in a clever way. When you are talking about the natural numbers (with zero) von Neumann constructed them roughly this way: we assume 3 symbols exist {,}, and comma , then 0 = {}, 1 = {{}} = {0}, 2 = {{},{{}} } = {0,1} etc so the natural numbers are created from nothing and you have the successor function and can define addition and ordering relations.
