We all thought of Josh when the hire happened

Penn State took the scenic route

As a lifelong Penn State fan and alumni, I am very excited to have this guy running our football program! I see BIG things in Happy Valley in the years to come!

They contacted who they thought was his agent, but they never heard back. Here he changed his agent. Then they contacted his new agent and the rest is history

I went to Toledo his first year as head coach, and the guys i knew on the football team absolutely loved him. Not only did he stay at ISU when he had better options come his way, he took salary cuts so he could keep staff members around. Matt Campbell is not only a great coach, but he's a great person. Penn State is very lucky to have someone like him after how poorly they've handled the coaching search.

Problem: Matt Campbell wasn't talking with anyone until after the season.

A+ hire, they wasted a lot of time but at least they got their guy
