1929: Great Depression 2008: Great Recession 2026: Great Self-destruction.
I'm with Ms. Niou - we need working people to run for office at every level.
Left is best comrades
I continue to maintain that centrist Dems giving up on framing in terms of international law (because it's inconvenient for the imperialism that they approve of) has left them unable to articulate the best objections to Trump's violations. As soon as Hegseth admitted that the justification of the invasion was to eliminate any future intention to get a nuke, it was the moment to pounce. Preemptive wars in response to imminent threat are legal, preventive wars in response to potential future threats are not. Part of the justification of that distinction is that only truly imminent threats require, by definition, a response other than diplomacy; the best and most enduring way to deal with another country's intent is to come together in an arrangement that addresses the root issues behind hostile intent. But more importantly, preventive wars are illegal because that rationale is a slippery slope to justifying ANY war - "anyone anywhere could maybe be a threat to me some day, so the only way to be 100% safe is to eliminate every possible threat by nuking the whole rest of the world."
Emma's sigh at 6:09 is so relatable.
It's going to be a hot May

What they don’t get it’s because of those wars that lasted decades is why people are tired of wars.
Thanks for another great program. OMG, Hegseth is just massively sick. What a monster. In service a much bigger monster. Why is Rep Adam Smith trying to reason with him? He is just allowing Hegseth to spread his nonsensical propaganda. Listened in from capitalistically ravaged Midtown Manhattan. And Liz Pancotti was great. Yuh-Line Niou was moving.
2 months into a not-war killing their kids and our soldiers that the President claimed would be over in a week. Thanks for the reminder, Pete.
