Love when these videos drop right when I’m not sure what to do next. My first cucumbers just started getting pollinated ❤

We get lots of greenhouse grown slicer cukes here in Ontario Canada and they're all wrapped in plastic. A lot of people think it's super wasteful but it's actually a really efficient way to transport them and protect them from damage and dehydration which would lead to food waste. They are able to prevent a surprising amount of damage despite being so thin and seemingly useless lol and can extend their shelf life by a week! I read an article that convinced me that they were actually a really good temporary solution until we can come up with a more sustainable version (which a couple companies in my province are actually working on!)

I was introduced to Armenian cucumbers as a child in the late 1940s, and have grown them ever since as a salad cucumber. I discovered fermentation in brine about a year ago, so this year I am growing pickling cucumbers for the first time. I was intending to direct sow them in May, but after seeing your success with transplants, I have decided to start some in pots tomorrow.

This so the first year my cucumbers haven’t died immediately lol I’m in Oregon, zone 7A. I planted four different varieties, then one particularly windy day my seedlings were knocked over and I lost the labels lol so now I’m not sure which is what, but they’re growing :p

Nice. My wife and I just got our first small harvest of large cucumbers today (about 5 really nice-sized ones). I regret not trellising them. They're spreading out all over the place and are enmeshed with our honeydew melons. Oh well.... first time growing them. We're learning!

I love that cucumbers can be made so tasty with just a bit of vinegar, olive oil, garlic, salt, pepper, and any herbs of your choosing. My favorite salad for life.

I started with cucumbers. They are one of the easiest veggies in the world. I’ve grown them in my bedroom in 5 gallon buckets

I grew five cucumber plants, three pickles, and two slicers. We got over a hundred pounds of cucumbers last year. Twenty percent went to Pickle Relish; the rest was used for dinner or salads.
