Paulie wasn't sick. He was part of the plot.
RIP Diane Keaton and Robert Duvall.
32:48 he wasnt sick at all. He set up the Don.
That cat was a stray lingering on set so Brando picked it up and just went with it
Possibly THE GREATEST FILM EVER MADE!! Rest in peace to all of the legendary stars of this film who have passed.
Pauly actually was faking the flu, he called in sick so the incompetent brother would drive Vito so they could assassinte him.
Lenny Montana’s (Luca Brasi) story on how he got in this movie is insane. Before this movie he was a pro wrestler turned enforcer/bodyguard for senior members the Colombo crime family. In 1971 when they were filming this, they faced opposition from the Italian American Civil Rights League, to the point where even actual mobsters were on set for the film to make sure that Italian Americans were not portrayed in any negative or stereotypical way. Lennywas acting as a bodyguard for one of the senior Colombo crime family members who was on set, and when producer Al Ruddy and Francis Ford Coppola were introduced to the 6’6” 320 pound man they immediately cast him as Luca Brasi. Now during the scene when he is thanking Don Corleone for inviting him to the wedding. He was told to act nervous, but in reality he was almost panicking, because he was doing a scene with the legendary Marlon Brando. So him being nervous in the opening scene is absolutely genuine.
note that at the meeting of the 5 families to end the war - the godfather says as long as I am alive there will be no more killing. He planned all along to get Michael to take care of the revenge after he was gone. He was true to his word but he planned ahead.
The baby in the baptism is Sophia Coppola, Francis Fords daughter.
RIP the stray cat that accidentally walked on the set😻
