Description

Tim Miller and Bill Kristol give their takes on a major election night development in Virginia as voters approve a redistricting referendum that reshapes the state’s congressional map and clears the way for a potential 10–1 Democratic advantage. The result marks a significant political victory for Democrats, who moved aggressively to counter Republican-led gerrymandering efforts in other states. This is the result of the poor Supreme Court decisions gutting the Voting Rights Act and allowing Citizens United to stand….it’s necessary to do this but sad we have to do it.

I hate gerrymandering in general, but as long as Republicans are doing it I'm very glad to see Democrats fighting back with this redistricting.

I love that the VOTERS chose in CA and VA. Redistricting was not done in a back room but in the open, in a democratic process, and in reaction to a back room undemocratic action in TX.

They were racist Peter Thiel 'black voter' pamphlets that were horrible!

I live in VA. Voted yes early, convinced husband to do the same. The amount of Vote NO mailers we got was INSANE. Also filled with disinformation and lies. Pictures of both Obama and Spanberger were prominently displayed with Vote NO messages. They used small print for quotes from earlier things particularly Obama had said about gerrymandering back in 2019. So relieved the Yes vote won out.

Fun seeing my home state of Virginia in the limelight tonight and ending on a high note where my “Yes” vote played a small part in giving us all a little more hope; I certainly needed it. 😊

The hypocrisy of Republicans is higher than Mount Everest. They can dish it out, but they sure can't take it. Been a pleasure watching them cry over this!💙💙💙

We Texas voters didn’t even get a vote when the Texas lege decided to proceed with further gerrymandering of Texas districts at Trump’s request. Thank you, Virginia, California, and other states who decided to fight back!

The No campaign sent information out that was treacherously wrong, such as postcards sent to Black Americans here saying President Obama was against the referendum. Dirty dirty politics.

The vote was too close for comfort. The MAGA PACs spent tens of millions to stop this, thankfully the Virginia voters saw thru their duplicity.
