The sentence - "If swallowed every drop of water from the tower above your house, I would still thirst for you", is without exaggeration, one of the worst lines I have ever read. It is shockingly bad, like 'intro to creative writing in 7th grade' bad. It's bad even by that standard. It's laughably awful. And she's a journalist? This is supposedly something she does for money? It's impressive actually, but in all the wrong ways.

The name “Vanity Fair” comes from a place ruled by demons in Pilgrim’s Progress, where people are ensnared in gossip, shopping, and games so that they won’t think about anything important. The two protagonists refuse to buy their goods and so the people of Vanity Fair imprison them and execute one of them.
