Dirty Diaper Fight Leads to Husband’s Killing

Officers with the Winter Springs Police Department responded to a 911 call on June 5, 2024, in which the caller said she had shot someone in the head. When officers arrived, 39-year-old Laurie Adams surrendered without resistance and officers found 51-year-old Adel Tawfeek on the back porch with a gunshot wound to the head. Adams told investigators she and Tawfeek got into a fight after he threatened the couple's child, who has autism. She said Tawfeek shoved her against a wall, then went to the back porch with a beer, after which she waited about 10 minutes, retrieved a firearm belonging to Tawfeek from inside the house, and shot him in the head.
