Too many young people have been deceived into thinking a college degree is a ticket to a great, grown-up job. I have a college degree, my husband does not and works in a trade. He makes significantly more than me.
As someone who worked at UPS for 5 years & never got promoted due to seniority, I wanna know where this 22 year old worked
This advice has worked in every generation: Do what you have to do until you can do what you want to do.
Im a manager at a gas station, a surprising number of people think I hate my job. Your attitude and outlook can make your job more difficult if you let it. The best job in the world is your job, you should do your best no matter what.
I am 62 years old and have always thought that all work is honorable. Not everyone is capable or eligible to work at every job. I have a brother -in-law (65) who is a dish washer and is perfectly content with his position and I don't look down on him for "his" choice.
The problem is my generation is full of problem makers instead of problem solvers
Saying woke right is like saying wet dry, it doesn't make sense.
Its not easy trying to keep up with the Kardashians.
Something like 85% less spending power than boomers had in their 20's so I don't blame young people for being pessimistic. Sad truth is that there is just no alternative right now. My advice to young men is to learn to accept that suffering will be their default state just as it is for any animal fighting for survival.
There is value in the arguments on both sides. I’m 30 and can relate to both generations. On the one hand, I picked a job in my early 20s, stuck with it, moved up In pay, and could get by with taking care of my family. On the other hand, I make almost 75k a year and still find weeks where I’m barely getting by, and when I try to bootstrap it by getting a second job to survive, I can’t even get a call back from a Little Ceasers to make pizzas for a side gig. Owning a home is entirely out of the question. But renting is also too expensive. If I could go back to 2012 and tell myself that just in 10 years, making 75k would barely be enough to support a family of 3 in a dingy apartment, I would’ve thought the world was ending
