Description

I thought that OpenAI's Atlas browser was just a Chromium wrapper. I was wrong, it's so much worse... Thank you Depot for sponsoring! I checked it out, it didn't feel ANY different at all in normal use. It's just an excuse to collect data. Also, first, and this early.

So... they've re-invented playright/puppeteer, but for the AI to use? That's what I'm getting from this.

21:19 Small correction: Installable web apps on macOS (PWAs) is something entirely different from what was deprecated "Chrome Apps". They're referring to the former in the article not the latter. Also just FYI, Vivaldi is doing something similar in terms of creating completely custom UI for chrome but they did it in a much more maintanable and portable way. They are using JS/HTML/CSS to render the browser UI. And they have bundled high permission chrome extensions for other functionality. That's what lets them add soo many options easily. Because it's all web tech.
