My father in law (US citizen) the early 80s floated into Cuban waters by accident (they were sleeping and the guy read the map wrong). It was just a small cruising boat of 4 of them. He said 2 big Cuban ships appeared and fired at them until they managed to get out of their waters. I’m guessing this isn’t a new thing.
