If anything, I think we're at the point where most people actually aren't smart enough to determine what's better. Twilight was incredibly popular. That is all.
I think the reason why they released version 4.5 is because they got nothing else to show and the competition overtook them for the moment.
It’s just the end of companies that try to overhype their products to raise funds, and the end of YouTubers with no technical background who believe them.

They said it's not a reasoning model, it could be that reasoning applied to 4.5 is huge, compared to chat 4 release, which o1-o3 are built on?
If they do not come out with ChatGPT 5 very quickly, they are cooked to a crisp.
I would say the 10x compute yields even better results than expected. It was always the case that you could be proud if you get 10% more performance from 10x more compute with the same training-technique. Imagine what happens if you create a thinking model from this beside emptying your pockets.
hand an accountant excel, and they'll create sheets with calculations - hand a builder excel, and they'll create programs and databases that are incredibly complex and automated. same tool - different perception of capability
