Saagar RIPS Boomer Anti-Property Tax Propaganda
Critique: Property Tax Abolition as a Generational Giveaway
Understand why abolishing property taxes delivers massive, often hidden, financial windfalls to existing homeowners, disproportionately benefiting the elderly over younger generations needing housing. Decide if this policy shift creates a fundamentally unfair tax and housing structure that exacerbates wealth inequality.
Short Summary
- Abolishing property tax functions as a massive giveaway to established homeowners, especially seniors who already receive numerous existing exemptions and tax breaks.
- Shifting funding from property tax to consumption/sales tax regresses the tax burden onto younger, lower-wealth individuals.
- Current systems effectively pay for senior retirement/healthcare while simultaneously allowing them to opt out of funding local services (like schools) they no longer directly use.
- Data shows older buyers are locking up housing stock, incentivized by low property tax carrying costs due to existing structures.
This discussion challenges the popular right-wing movement to eliminate property taxes, arguing that such a move unfairly advantages the most affluent and established generation at the expense of younger citizens. We examine the specific exemptions seniors claim and how substituting funding sources exacerbates wealth inequality by favoring asset holders over wage earners.

Saagar had a kid and now believes in a functioning collective society.
Watching Saagar become semi radicalized was not on my bingo card for 2025! God bless his kid
Saagar only starting to care about taxes when it affects him is very on brand for him.
I'm 40 without kids. I've paid $40k in school taxes since I bought my house. Totally fine with that... right up until people tell me how selfish I am for not having kids.
My prediction: Within the next 3 months Saagar will host an episode wearing a Ché Guevara t-shirt.
Has kid. Grows heart. Becomes socialist.
This is so weird, I completely agreed with Saagar for an entire segment. What is happening here?
Everyone pays property taxes. Everyone. Even me, who has never and probably will never own a home, because I pay it through my rent
As a Boomer, I agree with Sagar. The boomer generation has reaped big rewards and many are doing very well in retirement. Often owning 1 or more houses. Share the pie!
3:50 "I'm not saying they should be forced to sell... well maybe I am" *HARD GIGGLES* 🤣🤣🤣
