Description

In this episode, Legal AF’s legal ethics expert Ray Brescia breaks down the unprecedented hearing in Minnesota last week where a DOJ attorney actually asked to be held in contempt because of the pressure she was under trying to respond to judicial orders to release individuals illegally detained by ICE as part of Operation Metro Surge. These admissions raise serious questions about legal ethics within the Department of Justice that go all the way to top: to Attorney General Pam Bondi. Segundo A.P.G. v. Bondi, in which Judge Jerry Blackwell of the federal district court in Minnesota demands answers and expresses his shock at the threats to the rule of law posed by federal government violations of his orders. Brescia breaks it all down. Ethics complaints are reportable to each attorney's state Bar. That can lead to censure or even permanent disbarment.

The judges have threatened to hold the lawyers in contempt but are too afraid to do it. Lock them up or shut up.

Their clients don't believe that the law applies to them, because they are criminals, all the way to the top.

Lots of commentators have spoken of the compliance hearing in MN. No one has explained the scenario with as much clarity. Greatly appreciated as a lay person. Thanks, Ray!
