Alex Gómez-Marín argues that near-death experiences and related phenomena deserve serious scientific investigation rather than dismissal. Do these experiences point beyond the brain, or will neuroscience eventually explain them completely?
I too, have seen the non-physocal side of existence and come back. It' has been hard, because I was a staunch materialist and atheist for all my life.I learned it's called an 'ontological shock'. Not being able to share with anyone is hard too. Nobody could have convinced me that I was wrong back when I was an atheist materialist. I would have said that anyone making claims about the reality of the divine or the afterlife, must be dishonest, indoctrinated, delusional, stupid or suffering from psychosis. And now, here I am. With updated beliefs, knowing that I know nothing. Humbled. I am glad there are clear headed and intelligent people such as AGM pusing the envelope on these matters.
Some Near Death Experiences known as 'Peak in Darien Experiences' involve encounters with dead people who were still thought to be alive at the time, or were complete strangers to the experiencer. For Example, Dutch Cardiologist Pim Van Lommel has shared the case of a male patient who, while undergoing cardiac arrest, encountered his dead grandmother and a strange man who looked at him lovingly, but whom he couldn't recognize. A decade later, the patients mother, now on her deathbed, confessed to her son that he'd actually been born from an extramarital affair, and that her husband wasn't his real father. His biological father was actually a Jewish man who'd been killed during the German Occupation of the Netherlands in World War 2. She also gave her son a photograph she'd kept of his biological father, and he immediately recognized him as the strange man he encountered during his Near Death Experience a decade prior.
We are definitely stepping into a new era of knowledge. I’m happy a person so educated as Alex has had an NDE. He seems to be a person that has the right language to study the phenomenon and communicate it in a clear way.
I died & got restarted & had an out of body experience during it, looking at them working on my lifeless body. Talked to the Dr afterwards & quoted some things he said that only someone who was there could know & the guy turned ash white.
Thank you
Thank for the great work. These videos get far too few views!
I have had 2 Out of Body Experiences throughout my life and I can honestly say on both occasions I was NOT connected to my body. I was in a different location. A location I could later verify as accurate. I am British and very rational minded so I am not usually into this stuff but since my experiences, I have completely changed my view point regarding consciousness.
