Nobody wants higher electric bills so they can store more data about everyone for pointed ads to sell junk.
This isn’t a burden that should fall on us. This should be 100% absorbed by the company owners.
Data centers are privatizing the profits whilst socializing the cost.

They raised electric bills in NC by 18% to cover the data centers. SMH.
All the H1B tech bros who run Google, perplexity, microslop and others gleefully lay off thousands of skilled engineers but then expect the residents of cities to pay for their water and electricity. No way we can’t be this stupid.
AI companies should be forced to tell the world they are a huge scam and their invention can't even bring back 20% of the money spent on it now.
In Northern Virginia my electricity jumped 300% during the winter. My bills were from 250-300 per month to 650-950 per month. I am a retiree and don’t know how I will heat my home next year. They continue to build data centers here.
Ending property taxes and replace them with sales tax would fix a lot.
