The crazy part for me is why the families didn’t support Paul after the Emperor and Baron destroyed Paul’s family.
Feyd did win, a million times, just like Jamis. But Paul has prescience and fought that battle a million times, thereby striking and blocking in the exact way he needed to to win. The novel fight was much more one sided in Paul's favor. Feyd actually was sub-par and only won fights due to the use of poison.
Feyd would have been murdered by the fremen almost instantly, the fremen cared nothing for space travel, the fremen would have ruled under Stilgar or Chani under threats of stopping spice production. Feyd was dead man walking.
In the novel, the Bene Gesserit were taught sexual tricks to enslave their sex partners, and Lady Margot had a hypnotic hold over Feyd. This is shown subtly in the movie, in the dreamy tone of their meeting in the tunnel and the bedroom scene that follows, and it's shown more explicitly in the novel when Margot tells Paul the key word to incapacitate Feyd during their fight (Paul refuses to use it). So, since Margot could control Feyd, the BG would be the power behind his throne. The might not be able to rule the galaxy openly, but they *would* rule it.
Fremen culture was still wiped out in the books, it just happened slower and much later as a result of Paul's choices. The greenification of Arrakis ended the fremen culture and left behind glorified human museum pieces for Leto II. Fremen culture was destined to end as long as Arrakis was to be made a paradise. Ironically, their survival would have only continued if the planet remained a sand dune under Imperial rule.

Feyd knew that chip and shatter line was dope.
I thought of this too; if Feyd has won that duel. Stilgar, Gurney and Jessica would've rallied the Freeman and held hostage the emperor and his entourage. Remember, the Freeman still had the Atreides nukes over the spice fields as leverage. The Freeman are this close to their freedom, having retaken Arakeen and sacked the emperor and his army; all 1 million of them would not just go grumbling back into the desert. I think they would've either brokered a deal with the emperor for their freedom or just started the jihad on their own. Paul would've been a martyr for their cause.
I’d theorize that if Paul was killed in the fight the fremen would have enacted Paul’s plan to destroy the life cycle of the sandworms with the changed waters. At this point Jessica would have had the most fanatical believers of Paul in charge of the mission even if he was killed they’d follow through with it to ensure the empire would splinter back into pocket empires instead of one large one. Which could be a good thing since in the series this was what the Leto the second did in the scattering when he suppressed nearly the entirety of humanity instilling why it’s terrible idea to had an absolute ruler to rule for so long. It’s just without letos scourge of humanity there would still be groups of people that will want to control it all. With the spice destroyed the guild would collapse, the sisterhood would have to result in more dangerous and less effective ways to create reverend mothers since spice was a more effective way of unlocking their potential. Space travel would be more dangerous with one in ten ships getting lost and it’s likely older forms of ftl would resurface just with everything moving slower and the possibility that some groups of people would turn back to creating thinking machines just to get the upper hand on other houses.
stilgar could have just as easily taken charge over the Fremen right when Feyd won the duel. The Fremen had the off worlders defeated at that moment.
