What’s happening with TwitchCon feels like another symptom of something much bigger the moment when entertainment forgets it’s built on real people. Everyone’s pretending it’s just “industry growing pains,” but it looks more like an energy drain disguised as culture. Scorched Manifest Rules hinted that these collapses always begin where attention gets harvested the most. After reading it, stuff like this doesn’t feel accidental it feels engineered.
Security guard does his job: banned for life Man assaults streamer: 30 day suspension Edit: i’m talking about her previous personal guard that got banned because of a previous event for holding someone that was follower her.
Remember, it hasn't even been a decade since Christina Grimmie's death. Twitch has absolutely no excuse here. We already have precedent for how bad things can get with low security, if they don't take this seriously we might see another death.
"You can ban people in your live streams and keep those people from following you." That does nothing to prevent an assault that happened at their event. Wtf.
Bill Nye having to tell the world the government is failing behind bulletproof glass wasn’t on my dystopian future bingo card
the fact that twitch did NOTHING until pressed is outrageous.
The Emiru situation is even scarier when you find out that Twitch was SELLING KNIVES at the venue. Idk why they thought that'd be a good idea, but that's terrifying that you could have bought a knife INSIDE THE VENUE.
Another situation I think needs to be talked about more from Twitch Con: Every single Vtuber who did a virtual meet and greet had a section for atendees to leave gifts with the staff of Twitch con, and those gifts would be sent to the Vtubers directly even though they werent able to attend the event. not a single one of those gifts where sent out, and Twitch has claimed that Staff members "Threw away" every single gift that was given instead of actually giving it to the VTuber like was advertised. This is very clearly a situation of Twitch Staff just strait stealing the stuff. There is no way that stuff was just thrown out, anything the staff wanted was pocketed and you can not convince me otherwise. Twitch stole from their attendees and guests and just arent gonna do anything about it.
They completely failed with accessibility too. GoodTimesWithScar is a really high profile Minecraft creator and he's in a wheelchair. They NEVER have a ramp for him to get on stage during the Minecraft Championship, ever. This year his team won and he couldn't even get up on stage to celebrate. They stuck him next to a huge subwoofer so he couldn't hear his team and had to stay muted for a lot of the event. And they do this every year. Literally every year Scar gets treated like a secondhand citizen and they do nothing. Not even a temporary ramp. So unbelievably poorly organised.
