An Unknown War on Queer American Citizens | The Dark History of "The Lavender Scare"

As a historian I get so excited when I see Bailey drop a new Dark History. So far, two of them about my topics of research–she even did the topic of my thesis not that long ago, and it makes me so happy to see that people out there are actually as interested in these topics that I am. Love to see it. I just wish I could find y’all in real life to talk about this. 😭

My mom, 67 who is a really intelligent woman (years of working all over the world as and art conservator and archeologist, degrees in microbiology, art conservation and chemistry- i know, craazy smart) and doesn't watch youtube/doesn't have social media etc didn't believe me when i told her that your videos is something that she would like to watch. Heard her listening to a video a few days ago! She watched the episode on nestle and we had a really indepth conversation about it. I think its nice that me and my mom now both watch your videos and have cool topics for conversation!❤

As a librarian, were revisiting this again. History will ALWAYS repeat itself. Just in it's own way

Fun fact – Arthur Miller’s “The Crucible” (a play about the Salem witch trials) is actually about McCarthyism!

My daughter saw this video before me today and I could hear her from her room all the way out to my room that it was "DAAARRRRRKKKKKK HHHHIIISSSSSSTTTTOOORRRYYYY MOMMMMM! SIT SIT SIT!" she loves you so much! Thank you for doing what you do and bringing history to our younger generation that we didn't learn in school.

Many gov't employees during the Lavender Scare were forced to answer questions about their s*x lives and were questioned without an attorney. The amount of LGBTQ people who were wrongfully removed from their jobs and had their lives *destroyed* because they were supposedly of "low moral character" is appalling. Pretty crazy the things politicians choose to go after when the Catholic church and their priests have been here all along. 🤷🏾‍♀️ Hope you're feeling better, Bailey! 🌈

Bailey, you should do a dark history on Emmitt Till and how his death sparked the Civil Rights movement, due to his mother's courage to show his funeral photographs for the world to see.

Can you please do a dark history about Libraries? Libraries have literally fought for out right for privacy from the government and are often having funding being cut because of how much they do for their communities
